Background Check - Services & Descriptions

Want to know what all these searches are? We understand it can be overwhelming at first. Here is a glimpse!

The Basics

Each of the following five (5) services are part of a basic beginning point of a background check, at a flat rate.  You may choose not to run one or more of these.

1. Social Security Trace / Name and Address Locator

Helps find history of name(s) and address(es) associated with the name and SSN provided by the applicant.  Helpful for accuracy of primary search and to determine names and places where records could be found.

2. National Criminal Database Search - With Hit Confirmation

The largest database of its kind, containing hundreds of millions of Criminal Records from many (but not all) sources across the U.S.  Hits found require confirmation at the primary source (the court) before the information is permissible for use.  

We include confirmation of all hits at the court before sending to you.

Important note:  Not all criminal records are in the database.  We strongly recommend use of historical primary source court searches as well.  We can explain why!

3. National Sex Offender Registry Search

Search the National Sex Offender Registry for those that have registered as Sex Offenders.  This is an important search, as not all those registered have a criminal record that links to this important search.

4. Global Sanctions / OFAC / Exclusion List

Certain regulatory agencies, governmental and international bodies and global law enforcement agencies maintain watchlists of identified individuals.  This search helps assure that you are aware if an individual is prohibited from participating in certain activities, is not tied to criminal or illicit activities and is not politically exposed or high risk.  

Hundreds of global and domestic databases are part of this search, and include: OFAC, Department of State, Denied Persons, EU Sanctions etc

5. Youth Sports Exclusions (SafeSport) Database Search

The U.S. Center for SafeSport's Centralized Disciplinary Database lists individuals that are subject to certain temporary restrictions pending investigation, and/or certain sanctions after being found in violation of the SafeSport code, as well as certain eligibility decisions made by the National Governing Bodies (NGB), their local affiliated organizations or the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC).  

This is especially helpful for those working with children, elderly, disabled, etc.






Service Components

The following are typical components of a Background check.  

These can be used with or without The Basics above, to create any screening package(s) you wish.

Criminal Record History Search

This is the real deal of criminal checks.  Search the primary source of court records (local, state, federal) for previous criminal records based on your specific preferences.  

The best place to start are courts associated with where your candidate lives currently.  You may also wish to add in other locations.  We are happy to discuss that with you to make the best choices!

Motor Vehicle Record Search

Check with the state DMV/BMV for current driving record.  This will show if license is valid and active, or suspended/revoked, along with driving related records such as moving violations.

Many employers conduct an MVR even if driving is not the main responsibility of their position, just to assure that no surprises exist here with mobility.

Digital Identity Verification

Fresh technology to begin the background check!

Invite the candidate to submit a photo of their government issued ID (drivers license, state ID, passport), as well as an on the spot selfie photo.

This will then digitally verify and confirm their identity!

If you wish, this can also be used to populate the background check request automatically with the information on the ID, to assure accuracy!

Employment Verification

This is a good idea if the candidates employment history matters to you, is important for the position, or if you just want to confirm the truth of what they have told you on their resume / CV, for an honesty check.

Education Verification

If the candidates education achievement(s) or school attendance history matters to you, is important for the position, or if you just want to confirm the truth of what they have told you on their resume / CV, for an honesty check.

Adverse Action Letter Processing

If you plan not to hire, promote or retain the subject based in whole, or in part, based on the information from a background check, it is required that you give them adequate notice and ability to respond.  We can help with this process if you wish!
