Fax machines were new.  

Typewriters, desk phones and snail-mail were the primary tools of business.  


Background checks - A strange concept.


"We already call the references.  Is that what you mean?" was a common response to the first mention of a background check.


"Criminal records?  Why would we check that?  Negligent Hiring ... never heard of it."


"I can tell if someone is ok just by looking at them" ... was another common response.


Any guesses what year that was?  Hint:  Starts with a 19...  You'll have to call us to find out, but that's how long we've been in this industry.


Now, background checks are a normal part of business, necessary and essential, not optional.

And we are still here!  

We aren't new at this.  We know what we are doing, what's right, what's wrong, and we'll always be honest about it.

What we have learned:

The data is better, more accurate, faster and easier to get.

 There are hundreds of companies in this industry, with a handful of big names at the top.

The top companies merge with one another from time to time, and a new group of leaders emerges bringing better ideas.  

Innovation comes from those that emerge, while the top companies just enjoy their size, and merge with others to get bigger.



The industry has become commoditized.  Most sales reps just sell what's asked for ... without understanding what really matters.  

Many customers don't really understand what to screen for, or why they do.  And sales reps don't know either.
